The Economist Group, under the auspices of the British Embassy in Athens and in partnership with the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce successfully organized in Athens The Global Economy and Financial Services Gala Dinner entitled “Manoeuvring through the current turmoil”, on 19 June 2023.

During the evening, Matthew Lodge, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Greece made an opening address and Anna Kalliani, Greek President of the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce delivered opening remarks.

Distinguished personalities including well renowned Lord Jim O’Neill, former Commercial Secretary to the Treasury, former Chairman, Goldman Sachs Asset-Management (GSAM), Creator of the acronym BRICs, as well as Yannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece and Eleni Vrettou, Chief Executive Officer, Attica Bank, had an interactive discussion with Joan Hoey, Editor, The Democracy Index & Senior Analyst for Greece, The Economist Group.

The UK Trade and Investment Strategy for Europe and ways to further strengthening business relations with Greece, were presented by the Keynote Speaker, Chris Barton, CMG His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe.
