British President's Message
Κυρίες και κύριοι μέλη,
I am both honoured and delighted to have been chosen as the Joint President. Having been born and raised in England by Greek parents, I consider it a gift and a privilege that my life, my heritage and my outlook have always been shared between these two countries, so different from and yet so complementary to one another.
Co-operation, partnership and the sharing of resources and contacts are needed now more than ever before. This is not a time to dwell on the past nor to lament the future. I believe that right now we must believe in the ties which the Chamber has so energetically forged over all these years and create even greater bonds.
Of course communicating through computers and mobile phones is a vital and inescapable part of our lives. However nothing can replace personal contact, listening to others, sharing our ideas and dreams and turning them into palpable business propositions. No business can run on technology alone. Supporting colleagues, inspiring employees and creating a team are just as vital as the numbers on the balance sheet. In the hospitality industry, you have to balance the needs of your guests with the well being of your staff and create a home for all of them within a hotel. To achieve that requires discernment, intuition and a love of people. To create effective business partnerships has the same requisites.
I shall use this opportunity to work together with each and every one of the Chamber’s members and friends to promote that essential human contact which will bring its own success.
Eugenia Chandris
